Rare Cast Iron Grape Picking Basket

About the Item

Decorative wall piece representing a French grape picking "hotte" - or basket. Adorned with the star of David and the vintner's tools: watering can, ladle, etc. Incorporating a trap door mounted on hinges. Its function was to conceal a tap/valve. Very fine craftsmanship. Was probably made for an important wine producer. Extremely rare.
