São Cristóvão Brazilian Contemporary Wood Laminate Folding Screen by Lattoog

About

This room divider is composed of four articulated wooden sheets which draw their inspiration from the traditional window grills found in the suburban houses throughout Brazil. These are metal grills, whose use was widespread in the 1960s and 1970s and which are spin offs of the cast iron railings typical from Portuguese colonial architecture. The name São Cristovão is a homage to the neighborhood of the same name where the Lattoog workshop is currently located. Its surrounding architecture is a direct source of inspiration for the day-by-day and Lattoog’s creations. The São Cristovão neighborhood, also known as the bairro Imperial, i.e. Imperial Quarter, is a very rich historic setting, having been in the 19th century the chosen place for the Portuguese royal family’s palace, today the headquarters of the National Museum.

About The Maker

LATTOOG is more than just a name, more than an acronym of the owner’s surnames. Behind the brand are the binding forces of architect Leonardo Lattavo and designer Pedro Moog. Both have united two different yet complementary academic backgrounds to offer their own “flavour” in furniture design and architecture. All Lattoog products are conceived, designed and produced to ally the rationalism of high-technology with the intuition, poetry and subjectivity of art objects. The result: Functional objects that never give up on the human aspects of Brazilian culture.
