About

These beautifully hand-carved armoire doors are from the French Regence period (1715-1723). The front sides have been stripped at some point in their history, while the backs are painted in a cream color. Each door has a very subtle bow shape.

The motifs are in an asymmetrical format on each door, but are symmetrical when both doors are touching, which was typical of the Regence style. There are stylized shells, C- and S-scroll leaves, vine tendrils, and acanthus leaves all on two depths of raised and indented shaped panels. The very unusual front hardware is in an asymmetrical small shape of C-scrolls and graceful leaves. There is partial hardware on the back of one door. It has two cremone bolts for locking overhead.

These fabulous period French Regence wooden doors are versatile in their uses, from being mounted as doors in rooms having low ceilings, cupboard doors, doors for TV’s, or as replacement armoire doors once again.
