17th Century French Louis XIII Period 'Arms of France' Fireback / Backsplash

About the Item

Beautiful 17th century French Louis XIII fireback with a version of the arms of France. This is the coat of arms of the House of Bourbon, an originally French royal house that became a major dynasty in Europe. It delivered kings for Spain (Navarra), France, both Sicilies and Parma. Bourbon kings ruled France from 1589 up to the French revolution as well some short periods thereafter. The coat of arms consists of a Fleurcrown with three s-de-Lys (French Lilies, symbolizing the purity of nobility). The crown symbolizes royalty. The coat of arms is often flanked by griffins and surrounded by banners flags and weaponry. The fireback is made of cast iron and has a brown patina. It can be made black / pewter upon request. It is in a good condition, especially given its age. No cracks. This product weighs more than 65 kg / 143 lbs.
