18th Century French Hanging Iron Fireplace Accessory

About the Item

A tall French hanging iron fireplace accessory from the 18th century. This fabulous antique fireplace accessory piece from France, when hung, is approximately 7.5 feet in height and roughly 3 feet wide. It features a horizontal bar, adorn in fleur-de-lis accents, from which a series of connected o-linked chains hold the pot holders at bottom. The main bar is suspended by three twisted and ridged iron bars which meet at the top center, all joined and hanging by a single iron ridged bar with twists. This iron piece has a wonderful old patina throughout, demonstrating its age and prior use in history. This piece would have originally been used to hold cooking pots over a large fire. This 18th century French fireplace accessory, with its nice height, would be a fantastic decorative element hanging over a fireplace mantel.
