French Louis XIV Period Andirons or Firedogs, 17th Century
About the Item
Beautiful 17th century French Louis XIV period andirons. They are hand forged and made of wrought iron. These French andirons are called 'landiers' in France. This dates from the times the andirons were the main cooking equipment in the house. They had spit hooks to grill food. The tops of the andirions have the shape of a bull's head. The condition is good.
