19th Century Chimneypiece in the George 111 Manor

About the Item

A 19th century Classical Chimneypiece in the George lll manner, in Statuary and Siena marble. The jambs have freestanding plain columns on block feet with Ionic capitals, with a Siena in- ground, and Statuary back panel and returns. The centre tablet features a woven basket out of which spills a finely carved, naturalistic bouquet, whilst the frieze has inlaid fluting on either side of a carved tablet, below a double-breakfront architectural shelf, the corner blocks have inlaid Siena panels.
