An early 19th century Irish sienna and statuary marble chimney piece, made to celebrate a marriage and the conquering power of love, circa 1810-1815. The reeded shelf and sienna frieze centered with a tablet in statuary marble depicting Cupid the Roman God of Love, riding a Lion, symbolizing Omnia vincit Armor - Love conquers all. The end blockings with male and female portraits (bride and groom) framed by wreaths of flowering foliage.
