Period Regency Statuary Marble Fireplace Mantel

About

A fine quality period Regency carved statuary marble fireplace in the manner of Thomas Hope. The jambs in the form of neoclassical torchers decorated with acanthus. The frieze centred by an acanthus flanked by foliate scrolls. Reeded and ribboned moulding about the opening. A fine quality piece with a strong neoclassical influence of the Italian designer Giovanni Battista Piranesi, circa 1815. Measures: Shelf width 1842 mm 72 ½ inches Overall height 1283 mm 50 ½ inches Opening height 994 mm 39 inches Opening width 1137 mm 44 ¾ inches Depth of shelf 292 mm 11 ½ inches.
