Pair of English Cockspen Garden Armchairs in Teak with Chippy White Paint

We love the classical form of these very comfortable English garden chairs, sometimes referred to as “chinoiserie” style, but, in fact, the Brits call them “cockspen” chairs, so that’s good enough for us. Commodious and large, they still have a fair bit of enameled paint, one on more than the other, but are silvered teak beneath the paint. They could, of course, be stripped or re-painted. Perfect at the ends of a large garden dining table, their style will complement a set of more plain chairs, but give you a real pop. Marked with copper plaques on the back side of the seat rail, they read “Andrew Crace Designs, Much Hadham, Hertfordshire”, you can still buy this chair, but new, for around $1500 (shipping to the US not included). So we think they’re a pretty good deal at $1950 for the pair and they’re already here in CT! They are in good vintage condition, with a few nibbles to the bottoms of the feet, but are very solid and sturdy overall and no wobbles.
