Japan Fine Antique Tall Cast Bronze Kanon Guan Yin of Compassion Lovely Face

Good Garden or Indoor Choice- Ex Christie's Auction. Japan, an elegant and finely cast antique bronze standing Kanon Maitreya or Guan Yin clutching a lotus branch - a sign of purity- and with lovely pensive down cast facial expression and eyes, a superb work of art, early 20th century. An original large bronze Mandorla accompanies and may be easily attached or is easily removeable at the pleasure of the new owner. (see photos) Photographed in natural day light. A custom base is provided complimentary. This example is the tallest version of this style bronze pensive pose Kannon we have seen. An ideal indoor or garden candidate. Dimensions: 51 inches tall and 21 inches width. The peaceful and youthful Kanon with sublime down cast eyes clutching a lotus stem in her left hand and her right hand in compassionate mudra in a classic pensive pose in quietude all exhibiting a pleasing original chocolate brown color patina. Provenance: Private east coast collection, Ex Christie's (see auction tag) Only one. Kanon bodhisattva who in the Buddhist tradition is to appear on Earth, teach sentient beings and achieve enlightenment. The lotus stem is a sign of purity. Kanon is a Japanese name for Guanyin, an East Asian bodhisattva and spiritual figure associated with mercy and compassion. Lifetime Guarantee of Authenticity.
