About the Item
If you have a puppy or puppy-like children who customarily race through the house, move on. These slender marble and gilt bronze pedestals were typically crafted for more peaceful settings. Likely made in France or Italy during the late 19th century or early 20th century, and most often in pairs, such pieces were envisioned to display valued sculptures, busts or vases at eye level when one is seated. This set features square green marble columns adorned with gilt bronze mounts and Corinthian capitals. Each is topped by a square marble surface. And each pedestal rests on a substantial square, stepped marble base with floral motif gilt bronze feet. Imagine them adding interest flanking your fireplace, a bay window or brightening two lost corners of the living room—as long as the thundering herds roam elsewhere.
