18th Century Hand-Streaked Spanish Terracotta Water Jar

About

A very fine quality late 18th century terracotta water jar from the town of Calanda in the province of Teruel (Aragon), Spain. With gorgeous original patina, this jar features the characteristic charcoal-colored hand streaking typical of 18th and 19th century pottery from Calanda, as well as classic sun symbols hand-pressed into the clay prior to firing.
