Prairie School Stained Glass Windows in the Manner of Frank Lloyd Wright
Two American Arts & Crafts period Prairie School windows, in the manner of Frank Lloyd Wright, possibly by George Grant Elmslie, who was an assistant of Louis Sullivan. Excellent condition. Clear glass, both flat and textured, with rectangles and squares of gold, white and green glass, in wood frames, one side with original white paint, now peeling. Characteristic of Prairie School architectural design, these windows feature a strict rectilinear geometry, with an emphasis on horizontal lines. With their relative transparency, they allow for the integration of nature into the architecture. They are very similar to windows which came from the Henry Babson House in Riverside, IL, circa 1908. These windows are of similar size, with one slightly larger than the other. Left: Height 45 3/4 Width 24 7/8 Depth 1 3/4 Right: Height 45 3/4 Width 27 7/8 Depth 1 3/4.
