In shades of brown, green, red and soft green. Handcrafted decorative pillow made with an antique textile fragment from a Kashmir shawl. Kashmir handmade shawls’ are textiles handcrafted by artisans with fine wool and sometimes silk threads and they are usually pieced together as patch work. They belong to the Indo-Persian style. Their original use was to mark every rite of passage in the Indian society; these shawls were status symbols in the Persian/Indian culture. The technique used by artisans was to weave the silk and/or wool threads and in many other textiles, their technique included needle embroidery. Their design motifs include medallions in the body and multiple borders and their floral designs evoke the architectural decorations in stone carvings as well as building decorations.
