19th Century Japanese Imari Fluted Shallow Centerpiece Bowl

A richly decorated 19th century Japanese Imari shallow bowl featuring an elegant fluted scalloped rim and densely layered decoration executed in the traditional Imari palette of iron red, cobalt blue, and gilt. Measuring an impressive 13 inches in diameter, the bowl possesses strong decorative presence while retaining a refined, display-friendly profile. The broad shallow form creates an expansive surface for the intricate decoration, with radiating panels of floral ornament, geometric motifs, and gilded details surrounding a central reserve depicting paired birds within scrolling decoration. The layering of pattern, color, and gilt creates the visual richness that made Japanese Imari porcelain highly sought after during the late 19th century. Its sculptural scalloped edge introduces movement and shadow across the perimeter while the shallow proportions make the piece exceptionally versatile as a centerpiece, console display object, or wall-mounted decorative accent where the richly ornamented interior can be fully appreciated.
