Paved Glass Genie 20K: This piece too was up-cycled and was in dire need of being rescued. Which was a pleasure to do as the results were better than I could have ever imagined. Once the color for the leaf was decided I started. Given this task was an Artisan who is a French gilder with 25 years of experience of doing outdoor sculptures to interior restorations for the most important buildings in NYC and along the East Coast. The leaf used is 20K Italian from Manetti of Florence it is made of 80%Gold 4%Silver 12%Palladium 4%Platinum, all noble metals. After the bowl was leafed on all sides with 100% coverage and after a drying period, it was then transported covered in a wool/cotton batting for protection. The next stop was another Artisan to do a top coat which is applied 2-3 times as needed for surface protection. The next Artisan was an expert in the Pave technique with 28 years of experience. This was a complicated piece to do because of the intricacy with the angles and curves. The crystals are from the number crystal manufacturer in the world. The colors I selected are Antique Light Rose and Crystal Metallic Light Gold. The piece was done mostly in Crystal Metallic Light Gold with the Pink filled in making a subtle pattern.The ball trim was done primarily in pink with dots with the crystal metallic. This is a piece you will want to touch as it has a soothing quality to the hand. Keep it near by, if you rub it it might be a good thing! This bowl is exactly as I envisioned it to be which is so satisfying.The fact that this is in natural colors it is an easy addition to most color schemes.Create your own rotating art show move it around from book shelf to coffee table to entrance hall. This will be a conversation piece. I think you will love this.
