Antique French Large Dovetailed Copper Pot Cast Brass Handles

About the Item

Antique 19th century French dovetailed copper cooking pot features hand-hammered rectangular shape with rounded corners, with lightly flared rim and two cast brass ornate carrying handles. The hand-riveted handles have prominent hand tools' marks, adding to the charm of traditional craftsmanship. Large, heavy pot with the solid copper construction is in very good antique condition with beautiful, age-appropriate patina. Historically the pot was used for large batch cooking, such as stews or fish; in contemporary settings, it will be a perfect for displaying beverages on ice in a buffet style tablescape, fresh vegetables and fruits on a kitchen counter, or as an oversized catchall bowl or decorative accent on large console table. Provenance: the copper pot was acquired from the fine arts, antiques, and Folk Art collector estate in Western New York state. Statuesque, decorative copper pot, with high quality craftsmanship, traditional Country style and Folk Arts charm, and statement piece presence, will make a great gift to a collector or design enthusiast and a perfect addition to a wide range of interiors, from Traditional to Modern Heritage, Neo Deco, Arts and Crafts, Victorian, Organic Modern, English Cottage, Colonial Revival, Brutalist, Scandinavian Modern, Modern Country, French Provincial, Collected, or Contemporary.
