About the Item

A collection of centerpieces and containers in Jerissa stone and intertwined olive branches that reflect the theme of the traditional basket, reinterpreted; recovered from a distant past, they are reviewed in a contemporary key, stylized, reworked and renewed to rediscover their expressive power, amplifying their historical significance and the possibility of daily use. Encounter between stone and wood, connection between past and present, matter and form. The stone bases are machined with numerical control, leaving the processing in an intermediate phase, the braided component is, on the contrary, worked by hand with great patience and attention.

    By Patricia Urquiola
Located in Sant'agata De' Goti, BN
In collaboration with the school Istituto Caselli and the Royal Factory of Capodimonte, Patricia Urquiola designed a limited edition of porcelain artworks that tell a story of alchemy and experimentation. The collection is produced by Made in Edit. Hybrida is a project that translates manual skills and artisan talent into hybrid shapes and figures that populate the table set up. Traditional handcraft processes meet experimental ones, like the immersion in porcelain of unconventional materials, such as sponges and cotton, alongside the mosses from the Real Bosco that surrounds the Royal Factory. The name of the collection is Hybrida, conceived to reinterpret the eighteenth - century theme of great masterpieces of the traditional culture of Capodimonte ceramics...

In 2020 MADE IN EDIT invites Patricia Urquiola to visit the Istituto a Indirizzo Raro Caselli Real Fabbrica di Capodimonte inside the Real Bosco, discovering its ancient tradition and the cloister where the school's didactic garden was originally located. The students of ceramic art have always used botanical references, taking them directly from plants, which are a primary source of inspiration and exercise. Hence the idea of "greening" this tradition: on one hand by reinventing a new botany of our time and on the other hand by thinking of providing the school with new plants for teaching. Thus the collection "Hybrida" for MADE IN EDIT was born: objects and centerpieces that bring an ancient model...
