Danish Michael Andersen Large Bowl Wall Decor with Face Motif Persia Glaze 1960s

About the Item

Very rare and large ceramic bowl or wall decor from the famous Danish ceramic workshop Michael Andersen & Søn (MA&S) on the island of Bornholm. Made circa 1950s or 1960s. The Hand Painted decor resembles the style of Marianne Starck but is most likely not by her as the piece doesn't show her signature. We suppose it's by Gerd Hiort Petersen (1937), born Munck, as it wears the signature GM. In 1954, 17 years old, she became an apprentice at Michael Andersen & Søn. The artistic leader at that time, Daniel Andersen, who also had invented the Persia glaze had a great influence on her work. The decor on the piece is also made with Persia glaze and the motif showing mother, father and daughter in a landscape with trees and birds have a metaphysical atmosphere. Fully marked on bottom. Wears original MA&S paper sticker. Very good used condition. No chips, cracks or repairs.
