French Apothecary Ceramic Mortar with Pestle, Late 1800s


A large, glazed ceramic pharmacist's mortar and pestle for apothecary use, circa late 1800s. White ceramic form with a flared top and tapered base, molding at the foot and at the rim. The pour spot is angled and level with the rim. Smoothly glazed for ease of cleaning. The wooden pestle has a white ceramic bulb head for smooth grinding. It also comes with a thin bone pestle.
