Pair of Large Antique Meissen Porcelain Topographical Footed Bowls or Tazzas

About the Item

A rare and wonderful pair of antique Meissen porcelain topographical tazzas or footed bowls. Each bowl has a central hand-painted scene, a wide band of gilding to the rim, and beading to the girth. Each is supported by claw feet and a plunger base. One interior depicts a finely painted rendition of the Royal Hunting Lodge at Moritzburg, and the other depicts the Seven Oaks castle or "Das Scholss Siebeneichen". The bases each bear a blue underglaze crossed swords mark. Measure: Diameter ca. 11 1/4 in. Height ca. 7 1/4 in.

    Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. There is a tiny firing flaw or flake to the rim of one tazza, a chip to the claws on two feet, some minor rubbing to the gold, some very fine and light glaze scratches here and there and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age.
