Archimede Seguso Murano Glass Bowl Turquoise Purple Sommerso Geode

About the Item

A Murano glass bowl by the famed glass maestro Archimede Seguso, Italy, circa 1960s. Handcrafted in the geode style using the renowned sommerso technique, this piece showcases a striking interplay of colour—a luminous cyan-turquoise exterior contrasted by an amethyst-toned interior. The layered glass effect enhances depth and creates a radiant vibrancy, a testament to Seguso’s skill and technical mastery. Measuring 10 cm in width and depth, with a height of 6 cm, the geode bowl remains in very good condition for its age, with the original silver Archimede Seguso – Made in Italy Murano label still affixed inside. A fine example of mid-century Murano glass, well-suited for both collectors and admirers of exceptional Italian art glass.

Made from vibrant red Murano glass and seamlessly fused with a sheet of gold leaf—a signature technique in mid-century Murano glass design—this combination results in a rich, organic pattern. During the firing process, the stretching and forming of the molten glass produce a concentric pattern of gold flakes that radiate outward, echoing the delicate textures found in a natural scallop shell.
