Remissus Vide-Poche by Vilde Hagelund

About the Item

Remissus vide-poche by Vilde Hagelund Current Production Dimensions: W 12 x D 12 x H 1.5 cm Materials: Birch wood. Remissus is inspired by the water drop and its unpredictability in the contour. The various shapes leave traces of the asymmetrical shape and movements of the hand. The organic design language represents sensitivity to the wood (birch) and the aesthetic function of the hands, both in the process and in the use of the molds. By using unknown contours, proportions that the hand can relate to and a smooth surface, the goal is to invite the user to interact and touch the products. Carved from a single piece of wood, the barrels have the potential for longevity and possibly an attractive surface patina made over time. Vilde Hagelund is a 29-year-old Oslo based furniture designer with degrees in both multimedia technology and product design, specialising in furniture design. She strongly believes that Material, form and function should be equally valued throughout a design process. Combining a crafters hand, an artists eye and a designers’ mind triggers the creativity and the need to create long-lasting, quality products. Her master’s degree thesis Objectum was nominated for Designers’ Saturday Awards – Best Talents 2019, and she received a Design Scholarship from the Federation of Norwegian Industries the same year. In January 2020, Hagelund was presented with the DOGA Newcomer Award, and named one of the world’s most promising young design talents by Wallpaper.
