This exceptional antique Italian cast 800 standard silver centerpiece / sweet dish has been realistically modeled in the form of a swan. The body of the dish has been embellished with chased decoration reproducing the Fine details of the swan's feathers and anatomical features. The centerpiece is fitted with a removable cranberry colored glass liner; the shape of the glass parallels the swan's wings. The hallmarks struck to the underside of the base include: Maker's mark:Flli Coppini, symbol mark (Fratelli Coppini) Silver quality/purity mark: 800 (.800, 800/1000) Italian silversmiths rarely submitted pieces for optional official hallmarking. It was the norm for silver items to be marked only with the '800' (purity degree 800/1000), sometimes coupled with the silversmith's hallmark. Condition This antique swan centerpiece is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The hallmarks struck to the underside of the base are very clear. An exceptional, fine and impressive, large antique Italian silver and glass centerpiece / basket; an addition to our ornamental silverware collection. This impressive and large antique Italian silver centerpiece / basket has an oval rounded form. The body of the centerpiece is embellished with chased decorated scenes depicting children playing with floral festoons, alternating with sprays of musical instruments accented with undulating ribbon designs. Each scene is encompassed with a scrolling border accented with a floral festoon to the lower portion and incorporating a single rose design as an anchor to the aforementioned festoon and ribbon designs. The lower portion of the body is encircled with pierced and chased decorated quatrefoil designs composing a trellis pattern. The upper portion of the basket is embellished with a pierced decorated scalloped border accented with simplified bud motifs to each incurve, in addition to an applied simplified leaf festoon and rose border to the undulating rim. This antique silver centerpiece is fitted with two impressive cast handles accented with large scrolling leaf terminals, and further scalloped and rose ornamentation to each handpiece. The basket is supported by four impressive cast silver bracket style feet embellished with scrolling borders and rose head motifs. This impressive antique basket is fitted with the original oval shaped, flared glass liner; the liner is ornamented with a cut glass star motif to the underside. The hallmarks struck to the underside of this antique silver basket includes: Maker's mark: Pallotti Silver quality or purity mark: 800 (.800, 800/1000). This exceptional Italian silver centerpiece or basket is a large example of its type. Condition This exceptional Italian silver centerpiece basket is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition. The applied, chased and pierced decoration is all very sharp. The hallmarks struck to the underside of the basket are all very clear.
