This is an antique cheese carrying box. An English, oak garden produce tray or work box, dating to the Georgian period, circa 1800. Generously sized box, ideal for carrying large truckles of cheese or garden produce Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order throughout Select oak stocks show fine grain interest and wisps of medullary rays Rich caramel hues add distinction alongside the tapering trapezoidal form Gently raised sections to each end with shaped butler's grasp Appealing chip craved detail to corners with traditional handcut nails This is a delightful antique cheese carrying box, with great colour and pleasingly naive finish. Perfect for bringing in fresh produce or carrying objects throughout the home or institution. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready to use.
