Enameled frosted glass powder compact by Julien VIARD, 25, rue Chevalier-Dédiré, Paris, France, early 1920s. Close to the Rene Lalique works. Height : 4.3"(11cm), Diameter : 2.35"(6cm). Molded marks "J.Viard" and "Made in France" below the base (see photo). Tiny bite on the rim of the top. Very good condition. Julien Henri Viard (1883–1938) was a renowned French glass designer and sculptor, best known for his perfume bottles of the 1920s. Trained in bronze under Antonin Mercié and his father Clovis Viard, he transitioned to glassmaking around 1910. He co-founded the C. & J. Viard glassworks and collaborated with leading crystal houses like Baccarat and designers such as René Lalique. His prolific work played a key role in shaping early 20th-century perfume bottle design.
