Vintage Tessellated round shape decorative lidded marble boxes by Maitland Smith Set of Two.
Dimensions: Shorter: 4" diameter x 6" height
Longer: 5" diameter x 7.75" height.
Maitland Smith 1970s tessellated travertine table top decorative boxes with brass banding and velvet lining.
Feature two cylindrical bodies- one shorter and larger in diameter, the other more slender and elongated- in tessellated stone with brass detailing.
A modern style or Postmodern period travertine marble boxes, circa late 20th century.
Elegant Post Modern style tessellated stone boxes, possibly marble or travertine with brass accents, brown felt-lined interior.

Handcrafted in Asia, designed by Paul Maitland-Smith's namesake company that manufactured many of their products in the Philippines.
Travertine marble is pink with cream hues, the stone offers a variety of subtle light tan earth tone variations that contrast with the brass accents.
With their austere silhouettes and neutral palate, these boxes are as versatile as they are aesthetically pleasing, blending perfectly with any style of interior from Classic, Mid-Century Modern, Art Deco, and contemporary interiors.
Great Post Modern decorative statement boxes for a vanity, nightstand, desk or a coffee table.
In good vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use and patinated brass.
No Hallmark, boxes are attributed to designer Maitland Smith.
Handcrafted in the Philippines, circa 1970-1980.
About Maitland Smith: The eclectic furnishings of Maitland-Smith celebrate artisan skills in an age of machines. hand carved woodwork, inlaid marquetry, painted detailing, gilding and lost wax casting lend the company’s decorative accents an artistic flair. Focused on pieces that add a dynamic flourish to an interior by incorporating tactile materials like leather, seashell inlays and crushed eggshell, the manufacturer draws inspiration across centuries, from the curvy forms of the Louis XV period to the geometric angles of mid-century modernism.
Paul Maitland-Smith established the company in Hong Kong in 1979, after getting his start in London in the 1950s as an antique dealer. Since its founding, Maitland-Smith’s sourcing has been based in Asia, Today, Maitland-Smith continues to innovate on its finely crafted offerings by collaborating with contemporary designers and studios such as Tony Duquette Studios (founded by set and costume designer Tony Duquette in 1941), Celerie Kemble and painter and textile designer Susan Hable Smith.
