19th Century Chinese Huanghuali Mirrored Jewelry Chest

This mirrored Chinese jewelry chest is composed of rosewood and features three drawers with brass mountings. The top section of the piece lifts up to reveal a rectangular mirror framed within an ornamental squared off meander pattern. The mirror folds away for storage within a recessed compartment and is secured by virtue of a folding brass latch. The three drawers have decorative hinged batwing escutcheons, the right side of which lift up to reveal keyholes. The escutcheons are fitted with ovoid tabs which open the drawers. The base of the box is also finished with a meander pattern. The wood and brass have acquired an aged patina, and the piece displays beautifully. 2 lbs 3 oz. 12.375" tall to the top of the open mirror. Mirror frame 9" x 6.625" (mirror dimensions 7.5" x 3.375"). Small drawers 9.625" x 3" x 1.25". Large drawer 9.625" x 6.75" x 1.25".
