About the Item

This masterfully engineered and very complicated English ebony engine turned table snuff box dates to the mid 19th century. It has been hand machined from solid ebony with multiple repeated intricate circular designs to the top, which radiate around a central patera. The sides of each half of the box have a matching fine upright fluted pattern, which has been accurately executed around the whole circumference of this small box. Showing the quality of this rare snuff box, the underside or bottom has also been decorated with fine engine turning to a simpler design of radiating circular boarders with a star cut centre. The lid lifts off a raised and snugly fitted rim to access what would have been the original spicy contents. The box is in excellent original condition with no damage or restoration.
