Pair of French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Electrified Ormolu Candelabras
About the Item
A magnificent pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu candelabra lamps. Each eleven arm lamp is raised by an elegant circular base with a beautiful spiral fluted design and richly chased wrap around berried laurel band. The beautifully shaped bodies also display exceptional spiral fluted designs with charming intricately detailed swaging floral garlands at the front leading to two superb rams heads in a rich satin and burnished finish. Above an interlocking geometric band is the lightly curved acanthus leaf top cap from where the arms above seemingly grow out of. Above are straight central arms flanked by ten beautifully scrolled arms, each adorned with larger richly chased acanthus leaves leading to the most decorative candle cups. All original gilt throughout.
