Pair of surreal candlesticks by Fulvio Bianconi (1915-1996) for Venini from the early post war years 1947-49, model nos. 2966 /2913, comprising pair of clothes hanger candlesticks, lattimo glass with pasta vitrea applied threads, acid stamp 'venini murano italia MADE IN ITALY' Bianconi’s first designs for Venini reveal his interest in Surrealism and fantasy and delivers a charming and semi-ironic take on fashion with an absence representations of the human showing ironic sensibility. These objects emerge from Bianconi’s point of view as an observer, caricaturist and illustrator. At this this post war period of the late forties Bianconi was in close contact with Milan’s contemporary artists which obviously inspired his work.
