Mid-Century Modern metal Candlestick holder by Gunnar Ander, Ystad metal, Sweden

About the Item

A vintage candlestick holder designed by Gunnar Ander in the 1960s and produced by Ystad Metal in Sweden. The shape is very simple yet still very elegant and sophisticated with the irregular four arms. It is made from brass colored metal. It is 17cm (6.69") high, 29cm (11.41") wide and 12cm (4.72") deep some faint verdigris yet overall is it in a very good condition, the price and includes free shipping Already at an early age, Gunnar Ander showed his artistic flair, and he began studying at the Art Academy in Stockholm. Sometime in the late 1940s or early 1950s, Gunnar Ander was employed by Ystad-Metall. During the many years he worked there, the company had its most successful years. Today, Gunnar Ander is best known for his brass candlesticks, designed for Ystad-Metall. He also worked for Lindshammar's glass factory, as a designer, where he was active until his death in 1976. Often combining glass and metal design concepts. During his professional life, he designed a variety of utility and art objects in, among other things, brass, forging, glass and nickel silver. At auction, you can occasionally find items by Gunnar Ander, above all the elegant and timeless brass candlesticks with which he is often associated.
