Pair Continental, Probably French, Cold Painted Metal Figural Candlesticks

About the Item

A wonderful pair of Continental, possibly French, cold painted metal Nubian figural candlesticks predating 1910. The candlesticks originate from our own family estate and have been passed down through several generations. The candlesticks portray a running male and female holding a candle holder above their heads. The figures are dressed in Egyptian or North African style wearing ornate turbans and adorning strings of beads and an ornamental cloth tied around their waists. They are both mounted on a rounded base molded in relief with floral designs and both have been hand painted in naturalistic colors with colored detail to the bases and with gilded elements. The figures are not marked In good condition with the usual paint wear and loss as is customary with such figures. Both are completely original and have straight candleholders as is often hard to find.
