Pair of French Mid-19th Century Louis XVI Style Marble and Ormolu Cassolettes
About the Item
A very attractive pair of French mid 19th century Louis XVI st. Bréche Violette and ormolu cassolettes. The pair are raised by exquisite topie ormolu supports. Above is a stunning square shaped marble base with canted corners. The elongated ovoidal shaped marble urn has a fluted tapering ormolu pedestal, richly decorated by a foliate design. On each side is an extremely finely chased handle with male masks, which are joined by large berried acorn leaf garlands. the fitted lids, have chased ormolu finials. All original gilt.
