About the Item

Pair of candleholders designed by Sylvia Stave. Produced by C. G. Hallberg in Stockholm, Sweden in 1937. Striking geometrical form with small stylized flower decor on two sides of the candle holders. Good vintage condition with some age related patina. Price for the pair. Reference: this model can be found in the permanent collection of Swedish National Museum. Sylvia Stave (1908–1994) was a Swedish silversmith, metal designer, and illustrator best known for her modernist work in the 1930s. Born Sylvia Gadd in Växjö, she moved to Stockholm in 1929 and quickly made her mark on Swedish design. After debuting at the 1930 Stockholm Exhibition, she became the artistic director of the prominent firm C. G. Hallberg, where she created both everyday tableware and avant-garde silver and pewter objects noted for their clean, functional forms. Her work was shown in major exhibitions across Europe and the United States and remains in the permanent collection of Stockholm’s National Museum. In 1940 she married and moved to Paris, where she ended her design career. Designer: Sylvia Stave Manufacturer: C. G.
