Set of Four Cast Silver Candlesticks
About the Item
Set of four cast silver candlesticks in the style that would have been popular in the early 18th century, during George I's reign. This set of silver candlesticks is particularly well finished and of substantial weight. Design features include the typical paneled, bulbous centres, tapering stems and spreading octagonal bases with a stepped cut corner form.
Whereas most silver candlesticks are filled to give extra weight and substance, these sticks are substantially heavy, being cast, and do not have any filling or weighting in the base. This is in keeping with the original Georgian style. They weigh 64 troy oz (1990g).
