French Carved Giltwood Mantel Clock, circa 1880, Signed to Case
About the Item
A decorative late 19th century French carved giltwood cased mantel clock with eight day movement striking the hours and half hours on a bell, the circular enamel dial with Arabic numerals, the rectangular case with carved foliate pattern to the front, on a rectangular plinth base with decorative scalloped border, with incised signature to the front lower right (probably the wood carver).
The clock movement, which has a platform escapement and outside count wheel is marked France and has been serviced. The case has some wear to the gilding, commensurate with age, but overall presents well.
This is a very attractive decorative clock which would suit a period or contemporary decor.
