Allegorical Rococo Revival Clock Depicting a Gilt Water Sprite with Putti

About the Item

A late 19th century French gilded bronze clock on a gilded wood base. On the left side of the Rococo-style base which resembles rolling waves sits a mermaid like putto riding a dolphin. The right side has another putto reaching up to a large watery shell which houses the white enamel dial and steel string suspension movement. There sits a water sprite on the top of the shell among bull rushes holding a cape over her head.
