French Decorative Porcelain Clock Garniture

About the Item

French Decorative Porcelain Clock Garniture French mantel clock housed in an arch top porcelain case, beautifully decorated to all sides with flower applied relief resting on a dark blue stepped plinth. Gilded and chased bezel opening to the enamel dial with Arabic numerals, original ‘blued’ steel hands and gilded decorated centre. Eight day French movement with anchor escapement striking the hours and halves on a coiled gong. The backplate marked for A.D.Mougin and numbered 7439. The clock retains it’s original side vase garniture pieces. C.1890 Clock height: 7.5 inches Width: 6.25 inches Depth 4.5 inches Vases height 6 inches Width 3 inches Depth 3 inches A.D.Mougin was a well known French clockmaker who was located at Rue De Turenne, Paris in the mid nineteenth century also in Herimoncourt in the Montbeliard region. The company won two gold medals at the Paris Exhibition.

    Wear consistent with age and use. Very good condition. The clock movement has been completely stripped down and overhauled and is in full working order.
