Louis XV Style Gilt Bronze Mantle Clock in the Rocco Taste

About the Item

This charming and exuberant clock is highly ornamental. From the Bacchic group of bibulous cherubs on top, to the dolphin and scrolling feet, the maker has inserted scrolls, fruiting vines, snakes gourds, shells and acanthus. The works, with silk escapement date the clock to the early part of the 19th century.
