Monumental Black Forest Carved Mantel or Shelf Clock with Hunter and Dog

About the Item

A monumental carved walnut black forest mantel or shelf clock sporting / hunting motif. Featuring a hunter with a long rifle or musket slung over his shoulder under his right arm, hat in hand, with hunting dog and his latest deer, resting on a log amongst the woodland ferns. The seven inch diameter clock face is adorned with floral center and applied brass Roman numerals and hands. The wooden hinged back allows access to the brass works marked 3053 and pendulum, in running order, with key. Dates to the 19th century with fine overall patina and a few minor surface edge losses.
