Austrian 18th Century Barque Bracket Clock Grand Sonnerie
An Austrian Barque bracket clock dating from the first half of the 18th century with quarter chiming and Grand Sonnerie pull repeat and alarm The dial of this clock is signed Johann Michael Sailer, Bozen. Bozen being the old name for Bolzano, Italy which around the early 18th century when this clock was part of the Austrian Tirol. The gilded copper dial is repousse with applied silvered chapter ring and Sub-dials for repeat/no repeat, strike/no strike and time regulation. In the early 18th century the Austrian makers in large cities adopted this style as their way of following the English bracket clock style of the period.
