19th Century French Sevres, Louis XVI Style Clock Set
About the Item
A very good quality late 19th century French gilded ormolu and Sevres style porcelain clock garniture.
The clock having this wonderful cobalt blue ground fluted, lidded vase with ring drop handles and classical motif decoration. Above a porcelain clock face with floral swags and Roman numerals, an eight day duration movement that strikes on the hour and half hour. Ormolu Lion and wreath handles on either side and raised on classical fluted feet.
Flanked by a pair of matching lidded Sevres style cobalt blue porcelain urns, with classical hand painted motif decoration, ormolu ring drop handles and raised on plinth bases.
Measures: Clock; 28cm wide x 17cm deep x 43cm high
Side pieces; 38cm diameter x 38cm high.

Lapointe, Paris, eight-day time-and-strike movement signed Samuel Marti 1900 (Paris, 1870-1890), original Apollo mask sun-burst pendulum hanging below clock drum, flanked by matched pair of two arm candlestick garnitures, each with matching scrolled foliates and lyre finial, tapering column support with two candle nozzles, rising on stepped molded base, terminating in patinated brass disc feet. Markings: Pendulum stamped "R" "1721" ormolu on clock & garnitures stamped "1321"; possibly attributed to R. Freres / Raingo Freres. Dial signed by French enameller "F.
