Jeager Lecoultre Rare Skeleton Clock Plexiglas and Brass. 8-Day Movement. Marked

About the Item

Very rare lucite and brass round skeleton clock from Jaeger-LeCoultre, with a clean, minimalist design that fits any environment. The beauty of these skeleton clocks is its transparency, you can see the 16-jewel Swiss movement running and watch the balance wheel turning. Made in Switzerland. The movement is working at the time of our inspection. Good vintage condition no mark or visible scratches. Jaeger-LeCoultre is synonymous with prestige, precision and innovation. In 1903, Edmond Jaeger, a Paris-based watchmaker for the French Navy, challenged Swiss manufacturers to develop and produce the ultra-thin movements he had invented[10]. Jacques-David LeCoultre, Antoine's grandson and head of production at LeCoultre & Cie, took up the challenge and gave birth to a collection of ultra-thin pocket watches, including the world's thinnest in 1907, equipped with the LeCoultre Calibre 145[10]. That same year, French jeweler Cartier, one of Jaeger's clients, signed a contract with the Parisian watchmaker that all Jaeger movements would be exclusive to Cartier for a period of fifteen years. The movements are produced by LeCoultre[10]. Edmond Jaeger also acquired the patent for the Atmos atmospheric clock from its inventor, Jean-Léon Reutter, and licensed it to LeCoultre from 1936 for France, and in 1937 for Switzerland. The collaboration between Jaeger and LeCoultre allowed the company to be officially renamed Jaeger-LeCoultre in 1937.
