About the Item

A a rare and early American Art Nouveau patinated bronze "Crab" Inkwell by, Tiffany Studios. The crab inkwell is cast in a very realistic and naturalistic design after an Atlantic Blue Crab The carapace hinges open to reveal a recess for pen nibs, while the claws support a round inkwell with beaded rim and a hinged lid mounted with its original natural oyster shell. circa 1900. Signature: The inkwell is impressed on the underside with the "Tiffany Studios Decorating Co." monogram and further numbered 21149 " Measurements: height: 4 inches (10.2 cm)
x width: 7 ¾ inches (19.7 cm)
 x depth: 7 ½ inches (19 cm) Condition: The inkwell retains its original undisturbed patina and further retains its original oyster shell. The inkwell shows wear indicative of use with no losses to the overall finish. The inkwell shows well. An extremely rare French Art Deco enameled laid on copper and wrought iron decorated vase by, Camille Fauré. The vase is decorated with an enameled geometric design in colors of blue, black, and white further set into a decorated hand forged wrought iron mount. Biography: Camille Faurè produced designs for Limoges, long famed for its enamels Born in Perigueux in 1872, he spent a long apprenticeship before setting up his own workshop at Limoges, where he worked for over fifty years.
