Retired Royal Crown Derby Fine English Bone China Parrot Figurine or Paperweight
About the Item
Very collectible, hand-made and hand-painted in England, retired Royal Crown Derby fine bone china parrot figurine or paperweight. This is a larger size piece measuring approximately 6.25" high. The parrot is magnificent and is richly decorated in cobalt blue, rust, green and accented with opulent 22k gold in the famous Japonisme style Imari colors. The parrot was introduced in 2005 and retired in 2008. It was modeled by Mark Delf and decorated by Tien Manh Dinh. The parrot has a metal stopper on the bottom, so it can be filled with sand to serve as a paperweight if desired.
Royal Crown Derby paperweights started in 1981 and became so successful that they continue to produce them today, making the retired animals increasingly desirable and collectible. So successful that they have created a collectors guild. They are one of England's oldest and finest porcelain manufactures going back to the 18th century.
In excellent estate condition. It measures approximately 6.25” high x 3.60” long.
