About the Item

Unusual, Victorian Period, sterling silver picture frame, London, year-hallmarked for 1896, William Comyns- maker. The outer measurement of the frame is 5 1/2 inches wide x 5 1/2 inches high x 4 3/4 inches deep (when easel is in open position). The circular window, which is surrounded by green leather, will hold a photo that measures 4 1/2 inches x 4 1/2 inches and will show a photo that is 3 inches in diameter. The frame has a hinged, medium brown colored leather back. The leather shows some light staining and is missing a very small piece in one bottom corner (see photos) which is commensurate with age and use.
