Abstract Ceramic Sculpture, Bo Arenander

About the Item

The intuitive result of an educated dancer, choreographer and large-scale ceramicist transferring his love for the human body into clay. With extensive studies during the mid 70’s in both Stockholm and New York, Bo Arenander (b. 1954) has over 40 years of experience as a creating artist. His pieces offer references to the human body, either in motion or in rest. In his work he strives for a fusion between new and old expressions. Completely hand coiled and modelled with the utmost precision and attention to detail Arenander builds a hollow form continuously smoothing the piece to create a three dimensional work made to be enjoyed from every angle. The clay is left raw or finished with a matte engobe giving it a tactile surface that softly reflects light and enhances the curves.

  • Minimalist Ceramic Sculpture, by Enric Mestre
    By Enric Mestre
    Located in Antwerpen, VAN
Museum quality artwork by Enric Mestre, born 1936 in Valencia Spain. Mestre is recognized worldwide, won many international awards and has participated in numerous individual and collective exhibitions around the world. His sculptural objects seem sober spatial constructions: boxlike, slab built architectural structures of austere colours dominated by right angles. But appearances are deceptive: these objects have a poetic charm which saves them from only being rational and cold. Through dedication and commitment Mestre has pushed the technical boundaries of this demanding yet humble material, and helped elevate it to a sculptural art form in its own right. As one of the important artists of the Spanish school, his name is mentioned in the same breath as figures such as Jorge Oteiza...
