"Basilisk" Sculpture by Michael Thompson

About

Contemporary Chicago-based artist Michael Thompson made this striking, one-of-a-kind sculpture, which he calls “Basilisk.” Thompson is a graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and over the last several decades has used an array of media including collage, painting, ceramics, etching, papier mâché´, sculpture and jewelry. The sculpture had presence and it looks almost organic the snakelike creation is made out of paper-thin patinated metal disks connected at a central rod.
